Chakra comes from the Sanskrit word for "wheel, circle" therefore a Chakra has been described as a rotating wheel. Each Chakra is associated with specific gemstones (although there is often a difference of opinion as to which stones). Each gemstone corresponds to the different vibrations or energies of each Chakra. The seven main Chakras are described as being aligned in an ascending column from the base of the spine to the top of the head. The gemstones that appear to be the most connected with each of the seven Chakra are:
